Slither. IO: Small Worm, Big Competition

In the game, it is important to avoid encounters with other snakes and grow as long as possible! Touching another worm’s body leads to death. A dead player breaks into segments that can be eaten by others. A snake can also die when it hits the boundaries of the map, but it will not become food.

How to level up your worm faster

The main characters of Slither.io are worms or small snakes that grow by eating glowing pellets. This is their main food source, and the larger the food, the more it contributes to growth.

Types of food in Slither.io

  • Standard pellets are generated randomly and provide stable but slow growth.
  • Enhanced food — small glowing crumbs that appear behind players using a cheat for accelerated movement. The growth is small, but the volume (thickness) increases.
  • Mega food: large pellets that appear randomly near the player. This is the most valuable prey and provides good growth. Try to capture it by any means necessary, especially in the early stages of the game.
  • When a snake dies, new nutritious segments are generated. A snake that eats them will grow faster than with natural food.

Where to change color

By default, characters in the game “Slyzario” can use one of nine skin colors. They are assigned randomly and do not affect gameplay in any way, with one exception: when a slither is quite long, it is easy to mistake an opponent’s body of the same color for your own and become prey. Therefore, for those who want to make their pet stand out, the developers have explained how to set new skins on Slither.io: by clicking the “share” button on the social network on the game’s home page. This will give you access to new skins in original colors and help spread the word about your favorite game.

Game advantages

The length of your snake is displayed in numbers in the upper left corner of the screen. This is the most important indicator, determining the speed of rotation and the radius of curvature. The longer the slither, the slower the rotation speed and the greater the turning radius. The snake continues to grow to a maximum length of 40,000 masses. After the tournament, the position can grow, but the size will remain the same.

The length of the slitherer determines the view: the scale of the rendering of food and competitors gradually decreases. A large predator sees better and can react faster! In addition, the larger you are, the less noticeable the loss of granules when accelerating with the code.

Cheats and mods

If you press and hold the left or right mouse button, as well as the up arrow or space bar, you will get a speed boost. At the same time, slightly reduce the size and length of your snake: it will leave a trail of pellets that other characters can eat. A snake that is ready to use the speed boost is clearly visible by its glowing flickering effect.

The gameplay is intuitive, but there are many obstacles from treacherous opponents in achieving the simple goal of growing bigger. A few tips on how to play Slither.io to catch your opponent off guard or dodge danger will help you get your bearings and choose your tactics. Let’s take a look at the main ones.

Spiral strategy

If you are playing with a long enough snake, try to curl up into a ring around your prey. Your opponent will inevitably bump into your pet’s body and break into granules that only you can eat! When choosing this maneuver, make sure there are no snakes larger than yours around: they can easily eat you while you are curling up, as you are vulnerable.

Cutting

This is the main method of playing Slither.io, and it involves suddenly using a speed boost while turning in front of another player. When your opponent hits your snake’s body, they will be scattered into nutrients that you can capture. Even if you are much smaller than your enemy, boldly throw yourself across their path and avoid being cut off in return.

Hunting in a corral

This strategy works with an already well-fed and fairly large slime: when killing prey, don’t eat all the pellets, move aside as if you’ve lost interest, and wait for the simpletons who are ready to eat the bait. Suddenly turn around in a wide loop and close the spiral, so you get more food and growth.

Defensive play

If you notice an attempt to surround you, try to stay slightly ahead of your opponent to prevent them from closing the circle. Rotating around while gradually retreating can work if there are no very long snakes nearby: your own body acts as a shield. The only danger is ending up trapped in a ring.
